Police have caught the man accused of offering kids ride to school

Parents in St. Joseph, Michigan can breathe a sigh of relief Wednesday night after police caught a man accused of offering kids a ride to school.

Investigators say the suspect approached some Upton Middle School Students around 7:45 Wednesday morning as they were waiting at their bus stop.

The suspect drove up next to them and asked if they wanted a ride to school, or to Coloma. When the students declined, he drove off.

Police tracked him down shortly after the encounter, when the man called for help after locking himself out of his car at a nearby business.

The case is now in the hands of the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office, who will decide whether charges will be filed.
