There was quite a sight to behold in Walkerton Sunday afternoon.
Around 12:30 p.m., an unidentified elderly female took a turn along State Road 23, near Tyler Rd., too fast and too tight. Patrolman Jim Christie tells NewsCenter 16 the momentum sent the woman's Chevy Impala airborne where it rode a guy wire to its final resting spot, propped alongside a NIPSCO utility pole.
Around 4 p.m., officers shut down State Road 23 for fear afternoon thunderstorms could blow the vehicle into the roadway. The busy state highway remained shut down until 9:30 p.m. when a industrial crane removed the car from its precarious position.
Officers say a bystander helped the elderly woman out of her driver's seat. She was not injured.
