EDWARDSBURG, Mich. Snowfall and a frozen lake didn't stop some brave folks from taking the plunge Saturday morning.

Dozens decked out in fun costumes and dipped into the freezing water in support of Special Olympics.

The event raised $8,500, organizers announced Sunday.

Participants met at Pleasant Lake in Edwardsburg. NewsCenter 16's very own Tricia Harte was among those braving the elements.

There are close to 30 plunges each year in Michigan. Last year, plungers brought in close to $1 million. So far this year, the Edwardsburg plung has raised around $4500.
