Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians double housing in Dowagiac

The home-building boom continues in Dowagiac. That's where the number of residences built by and for the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians has more than doubled.

The tribe recently finished work on new town homes and duplexes that provide 32 new homes for tribal members. That doubles the size of the Dowagiac subdivision.

“Certainly casino has been a great economic success and a tool for us down in Indiana our main focus is not a casino,” says Robert Moody the Tribal Vice President. “Our main focus is for our people and to take and to put together housing.”

It was 14 months ago that the tribe asked the Federal Government for permission to provide services in South Bend and there's still no answer.
