Pet Refuge holds benefit auction

Pet Refuge is holding a benefit auction Saturday to raise funds for their building renovation.

The shelter, which is currently in Mishawaka, will move to a 12,000 square foot building on South Bend’s south side. The extra room will allow the no-kill shelter to have more individual spaces for cats and dogs. It will also open up room for a cat infirmary and indoor and outdoor dog runs. Pet Refuge board members say the move will make things easier for the animals and volunteers.

“To be able to take care of them, it's going to be much more efficient,” says Nancy Whiteman Vice President, Pet Refuge Board. “We're not going to have to go into another room to get water. The water's going to be there.”

The deadline to buy tickets for Saturday’s auction has already passed. But those who can’t attend can donate to the building’s renovation fund by visiting the Pet Refuge website or Facebook page.
