Man dies after falling from Silver Beach Hotel balcony

St. Joseph, Mich. An Indiana man is dead after falling from a balcony at a St. Joseph hotel.

Police were called to the Silver Beach Hotel in the 100 block of Main Street around 8:45 p.m. after reports of a man that fell from a fifth floor balcony.

When they arrived on the scene, police found the 38-year-old man unresponsive. Crews administered CPR, and took the victim to the hospital, where he died at 9:19 p.m.

His name is being withheld until relatives are contacted.

Police believe alcohol may have been a factor, and do not suspect foul play.

Silver Beach Hotel has released a statement on the man's death. They say the man is a repeat customer.

"The Silver Beach Hotel would like to take a moment to send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the gentlemen who suffered last night’s terrible accident.

We are withholding the name of the guest at this time to give the family the privacy they need, as well as to give them ample time to notify all their family members personally.

On a personal note, this person was a repeat guest of our hotel and we mourn with the family. We all knew him by name and it is with deep sadness this morning to know that we will not be seeing him here again.

Details of this accident have been given to all proper authorities and out of respect for the family and loved ones we will issue no other comments at this time so that they may have some peace in dealing with their loss."
