A St. Joseph woman is about to start a 155-mile walking trek all in honor of her son.
Mindy Flowers-Daisy lost her 24-year-old son, Kory Daisy, to cancer after a three year long battle. She was a single mother and had to quit her job to care for her son.
Flowers-Daisy is launching her new non-profit organization in Southwest Michigan called “Pennies from Heaven” on Friday as she sets out on her walk from St. Joe to Ann Arbor. She will start at Hickory Bluff Cemetery on Cleveland Avenue where Kory is buried and end at the University of Michigan’s Comprehensive Cancer Center in Ann Arbor where he was treated. She hopes to walk 25-30 miles per day.
Flowers-Daisy hopes to finish her walk on Wednesday, October 10. That would be the fifth anniversary of Kory’s diagnosis.
If you’d like to donate to “Pennies from Heaven” you can mail checks to 4059 Woodland Dr. St. Joseph, MI. 49085. They are a 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit organization. Their mission is to offer financial assistance to young adults, ages 21-30, for living expenses and to provide comfort during their battle with cancer.
