INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Gov. Mike Pence is delaying the opening of state government offices next week amid forecasts of a major weekend snowstorm.
Pence announced Friday that state offices would open at 10 a.m. Monday. Indianapolis could receive up to a foot of snow by Sunday night, coming on the heels of a half-foot of snow that fell earlier this week. The weekend storm is forecast to usher subzero temperatures across the state.
The General Assembly is scheduled to convene its 2014 session on Monday, but that first day could be canceled depending on the weekend snowfall and bitter cold. Legislative leaders are expected to announce Sunday afternoon their plans for Monday.
That question will be most pressing for lawmakers who travel three hours or more from the state's various corners.
