SILVER LAKE, Ind.--- A 4-year-old boy died after being struck by a flatbed truck in Silver Lake on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers and emergency personal responded to SR 15 in Silver Lake around 1:42 p.m. after getting calls of a pedestrian being hit by a truck.

Upon arriving at the scene the Kosciusko County F.A.C.T team found that Logan R. Heeter, 4, of Warsaw had attempted to cross the street when a 2001 Freightliner flatbed truck going southbound struck Logan.

Travis A. Woodcock, 25, of Louisville, Kentucky, was driving the truck and tried to swerve and hit the brakes when he saw Logan enter into his path.

Logan was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma.

The crash is currently still under investigation.

Teddy bears have been left at a makeshift memorial on the side of the street, and a fund has been set up for funeral donations.
