Pet lovers might want to head over to Howard Park in South Bend for the Peace Paws Festival taking place today to benefit PetsConnect. PetsConnect is an organization that rescues dogs from the community or shelters before they're to be put down.
Today's event runs from 1 p.m. through 6 p.m. This event is fun for the whole family, friends, and your furry pals.
Today's event will feature a variety of activies from a 60's themed dog walk, to live music, to a tie-dye shirt station. Event organizers have even put on a classic car show and organized a variety of demonstrations by local 4-h participants.
The benefit is to help raise monies to cover the vet bills for dogs. Currently the organization is trying to cover medical expenses for dog named Mikayla. Mikayla arrived with a broke front leg. It appears that her leg was broken after she was kicked. The break was severe enough her leg needed to be removed.
