More information continues to be released about the boy who is in critical condition after being trapped in a hole of sand.
And now his pastor is speaking about the harrowing incident.
“I was terrified, it was early on he had not been in the hole very long and we were terrified, not sure what to think and really not sure what we could do,” said Pastor Brian Vickers.
Nathan Woessner, 6, of Sterling, Illinois fell into a hole and was trapped under 11 feet of sand during a hiking trip with his father at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan City on Friday.
Vickers says that it was a miracle for Woessner to come out alive.
“God did a miracle protected him so we'd have a great story to tell of goodness and love,” Vickers said.
A spokesperson from University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital says that Woessner is responding to commands.
Another update on his condition is expected Monday morning.
