The Indiana Department of Child Services has taken a toddler into protective custody after the parents were arrested Sunday night for making meth inside the family home.

According to reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department acted on a tip and went to a house on Sunnyside Ave. on the south side of Elkhart.

Police found and arrested Christopher Sawyer, 24, and Lauren Semmerling, 21, on preliminary felony charges of manufacturing meth, possession of hypodermic needles, and neglect of a child.

They also face misdemeanor charges of having drug paraphernalia.
