There were sunny skies for hundreds of elementary students who gathered to race Monday afternoon.
They were celebrating another successful season of the free running club available to 4th and 5th graders at Penn Harris Madison schools.
More than 600 students laced up for the one-mile run at Elm Road Elementary in Mishawaka.
"We want to get them off the sofa, getting them away from the Xbox and the TV and have them out running and getting exercise in this wonderful weather," explains Marilinn Wise, Executive Director of the PHM Education Foundation.
The program not only educates the students on the benefits of staying physically fit, but it also helps to develop life-long runners.
