Organization seeks more mentors for abused children

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY More children are waiting for a CASA volunteer in St. Joseph County than anywhere else in the Hoosier state.

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. Volunteers are trained to act as advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children in our area.

According to the organization, having the help of a CASA volunteer gives the child a better chance at finding a safe and permanent home.

St. Joseph County has the longest waiting list in the state, with nearly 500 kids still in need of help. If you're interested in helping, the next training sessions will begin on September 10th. Click for more information, or call 574-233-CASA.
