One man is dead after his car flipped over Thursday morning in Elkhart County.
It happened around 7 a.m. on County Road 146 west of the County Road 46 intersection. That's just north of Nappanee.
Police say 30 year-old Kevin Shaffer of Knox was heading northeast, when his car left the road, jumped a ditch and hit an embankment, sending it airborne and flipping it over.
The 1979 Ford Mustang ended up on its top in a corn field.
Shaffer was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Shaffer was driving at an unsafe speed and wasn't wearing a seat belt, but it's unclear if there were any other contributing factors.
