Niles, Mich. One of two Niles brothers charged with animal cruelty has pleaded guilty, and the case against the other has been dismissed.
65-year-old twins Donald and Ronald Wheeler were accused of neglecting and abusing animals at their home in the 900 block of 14th Street.
In June, officers rescued a dog and 11 cats, and also found two dead cats on the property. Investigators had to wear hazmat suits because of the trash and stench from animal feces.
According to our reporting partners at the Herald Palladium, Ronald Wheeler plead guilty to the crimes and will be sentenced November 18. All charges against his brother Donald have been dropped.
