UPDATE: Man hospitalized after shooting
A 24-year-old man was taken to the hospital after a shooting early Friday morning in South Bend.
It happened around 12:50 a.m. in the 1500 block of McPherson Street near West Indiana Avenue.
Police say the victim was walking to his home when a dark-colored, boxy-looking vehicle drove by without its lights on. The man told police he tried waving the car down to let the driver know about his headlights, when he was shot once in the rear end.
A friend drove the man to a local trauma center, where doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
