SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- The next thing to move into the old Steve and Barry's store in South Bend could be your stuff.

Plans call for turning the long vacant 120,000 square foot building at 605 North Hickory into an indoor mini-storage facility.

It would be designed for use by ordinary folks, as opposed to industry.

“It'll be laid out so that it will be climate controlled areas for people to store items,” said Michael Danch of Harner and Associates. “Depending on what they want to do some people don't want to go to just the typical min warehouse facility, they've got to have a climate controlled facility where the temperature stays constant and doesn't have an effect on a lot of the material or anything that they want to store.”

The project depends on some requested zoning changes that go before the St. Joseph County Area Plan Commission May 20.

The project's being spear headed by a company based in Florida.
