ELKHART An Elkhart police officer faces a month-long suspension for the way he handled a case of alleged domestic battery.
The Elkhart Truth reports that Cory Newland failed to arrest a man in a May 10th incident. The man reportedly hit his wife in front of their children. Newland didn't take photographs or written statements and didn't make a report of the incident. Then he reportedly lied about it to his supervisors.
Newland will have a formal hearing later this month.
