NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Dozens of Notre Dame Seniors helped around the community on Tuesday, before they say their good-byes this weekend at graduation.
Around 90 students took part in a day of service.
It is part of senior week.
One group volunteered at the Youth Service Bureau of St. Joseph County, on Lincoln Way East.
Students helped get their unity garden ready for the summer, by weeding, spreading mulch, and planting flowers and vegetables.
Plus, they put their painting skills to work, on the inside and outside of the shelter.
"We love having the Notre Dame students. We've had different students from Notre Dame, had a group from Bethel last fall, that help periodically," explains Christina McGovern, from the Youth Service Bureau. "There's a lot to do with our residents, something we couldn't do without volunteer help."
"The community has given me so much throughout the four years," says Carolyn Heilmann, a senior at Notre Dame. "I love to give back a little bit more. I've done some things through band, and this is just one more thing I can help out with."
A second group of students helped at the LaSalle Square Unity Garden.
