A Notre Dame graduate will be made a cardinal by Pope Francis next month.
Kelvin Edward Felix is an emeritus archbishop of Castries, in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. Since his retirement in 2008, he has served as a priest on the nearby island of Dominica.
He earned a master's degree in psychology from Notre Dame in 1969.
At age 81, Archbishop Felix will be an honorary cardinal, and not eligible to vote in the papal conclave.
The ceremony will be Feb. 22 at the St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
