NOTRE DAME It's a message you might not expect from a Catholic school, but Notre Dame is standing behind its gay athletes. The school launched a new campaign the shares the message of inclusion.

“The university is committed to fostering an environment of welcome and mutual respect that is grounded in its Catholic mission,” athletic director Jack Swarbrick says at the beginning of the video.

The two-minute video goes on to include statements from Notre Dame athletes about what makes a place home. It ends by saying every student athlete should feel at home at Notre Dame.

The message throughout is "if you can play, you can play."
