Folks in North Liberty celebrated Independence Day by gathering along Main Street to watch the town’s annual parade.
The festivities kicked off around 2 pm with a 21-gun salute.
Fire trucks, ambulances and locally-sponsored floats passed through the city’s streets and people tossed candy out to the kids.
Despite the cloudy weather, hundreds came out for the celebration.
“The main thing is the family and the kids and just seeing them,” said parade attendee Russel Jimerson. “And then one of these days they're going to be standing where we're at and that's the great part of this country we live in.”
The theme for this year’s parade was cowboys and Indians.
