MISHAWAKA, Ind. Dozens of emergency officials spent Tuesday morning fighting a fire inside a small Mishawaka apartment.

Mishawaka firefighters were dispatched to the West Jefferson Apartment Complex around 9 a.m.

No one was currently renting the unit, but it appears a former tenant left behind some belongings.

The Mishawaka fire marshal tells NewsCenter 16 he believes the fire started in the kitchen, where some of those belongings were left on the burner.

All of the tenants in the surrounding apartments were evacuated for a short time.

No injuries were reported
