No injuries after a police shooting in South Bend

South Bend Police fired shots Tuesday morning at a car that was trying to escape from undercover officers during a drug bust.

It happened in a parking lot on the southwest corner of Western and Mayflower near the Top Notch Restaurant.

Police were trying to stop Walter Wilbourn, 34, when he got into a black sedan and reportedly started ramming police cars. Wilbourn then drove towards officers on foot.

When the officers believed they were in danger, at least one fired shots at his car. Wilbourn tried to leave again in reverse and broke through a fence and stopped on a curb.

No one was injured. Wilbourn was taken into custody for attempt to possess and deliver cocaine.
