NILES, Mich. -- No charges will be filed against the Berrien County police officers who shot and killed a man who robbed a Niles restaurant.
It happened in May at the Long John Silver's on S. 11th Street.
Police say Eddie Macon of Elkhart robbed the restaurant armed with a gun. He tried to leave out of the restaurant's back door, and shot at police. That's when police fired back, killing Macon.
Prosecutors say Macon was the boyfriend of a former Long John Silver's employee.
Their investigation has concluded that the officers were acting within their duties in the shooting and killing of Macon.
