A Niles man was arrested early Thursday morning after driving while intoxication and leading police in a pursuit. It all happened around 2:15 a.m. when a Marshall County patrolman saw a car speeding southbound on U.S 31 through Lapaz.
The patrolman says the car was traveling in an excess of 70 mph.
The patrolman tried to pull the 2008 Audi over but it sped down the highway leading police in a pursuit.
The pursuit continued southbound on U.S. 31 through the construction area at speeds exceeding 100 mph, stop Sticks were used in two locations near the intersection of U.S. 31 and U.S. 30.
The vehicle was disabled due to the flattened tires and finally stopped near the intersection of U.S. 31 and 9A Road. The driver was quickly taken into custody without further incident.
The driver was identified as 28-year-old Baljinder Singh. A blood test determined that Singh blood alcohol content was well over the legal limit.
Singh is being held at the Marshall County Jail and his bond is set at $4,505.00.
