NILES, Mich. -- An 11-year-old boy from Niles is saying no to a birthday party this year.

Instead, Zach Ryman wants to celebrate his 12th birthday by giving back to others.

So he made the decision to hold the Zach Wants to Give Back Food Drive.

Ryman spent Friday collecting food outside the Hardings Market in Niles. But he has another collection day scheduled for July 26 at the Save-A-Lot in Niles.

Anyone in the community is encouraged to drop off food between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Ryman turns 12 the following day, on July 27.

Check out this Facbook page for more details on the food drive.
