NewsCenter 16 is going red to bring awareness to heart disease.
Heart disease is the number one killer of women. It is responsible for a third of women’s death each year, claiming one life every minute. Heart disease kills more women than all forms of cancer combined. One in 30 women die of breast cancer each year; one in three women die of cardiovascular disease.
Despite the staggering numbers, heart disease often goes undiagnosed. That’s why the nation observes National Wear Red Day during American Heart Month. It is a reminder to commit to a heart healthy lifestyle and monitor your heart health.
