In preparation for Super Bowl 47, 16 Saturday Morning shared some newsroom party recipes. Many thanks to assignment manager Mike Pease, reporter Barbara Harrington and producer Stephanie Fryer.
The Pease Family’s Frosted Crispy Treats:
Ingredients:
*7 tbsp margarine
*55 marshmallows
*8 cups Rice Krispies
*¾ cup peanut butter
*1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
*1 cup butterscotch chips
Directions:
1.) Microwave margarine in very large mixing bowl on high for 45 seconds or until melted.
2.) Add marshmallows, toss to coat.
3.) Microwave 1 ½ minutes or until smooth when stirred, stirring after 45 seconds.
4.) Blend in peanut butter.
5.) Immediately add cereal, tossing until well coated.
6.) Press mixture in greased 13 X 9-inch baking pan.
7.) Mix chocolate and butterscotch chips together in small bowl.
8.) Microwave chips on high for 45 seconds, stir.
9.) Continue melting in microwave until chips are smooth when stirred, stirring every 15 seconds.
10.) Pour chocolate mixture over cereal mixture, spread to cover
chill.
11.) Cut into squares.
Total prep time: 10 minutes
Barbara Harrington's Southwest Cheesecake Dip:
Ingredients:
*16 oz. cream cheese
*2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
*2 cups sour cream, divided
*3 eggs
*1.5 packages taco seasoning
*4 oz. can chopped green chilies
*1 jar salsa
Directions:
1.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease 9-inch spring form pan.
2.) Beat cream cheese and cheddar cheese together with electric mixer until fluffy.
3.) Add 1 cup sour cream and eggs to the mixture, beating until combined.
4.) Stir in taco seasoning and chilies.
5.) Pour mixture into spring form pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
6.) Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes.
7.) Spread 1 cup sour cream on top and bake for another 5 minutes.
8.) Cool completely before topping with salsa and refrigerating overnight.
Stephanie Fryer's Easy Peasy Punch:
Ingredients:
*½ gallon of Hawaiian Punch
*1 liter of Sprite
*1 liter of Ginger Ale
*One lime
*One orange
Directions:
1.) Pour Hawaiian Punch, Sprite and Ginger Ale into large bowl.
2.) Slice orange and squeeze juice into bowl.
3.) Slice lime and squeeze juice into bowl.
