Changes are coming to the voting process in St. Joseph County, and the election board wants to make sure you are ready.
The game plan is to have 40 new vote centers in the county on Election Day. Thirty-seven of the locations are confirmed, but two other potential hosts said no, and the board is still waiting on answers from a third.
When it comes to satellite absentee voting stations, the plan is to have them at the Kroc Center, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and several libraries.
However, rotating centers are up in the air completely.
The board hopes to finalize everything by Aug. 5.
One of the most important steps now in the preparation process is making sure voters understand the changes.
That plan could cost as much as $110,000, but the board says without education, folks will not know what to do with these changes, and as a result, they will not vote.
