SOUTH BEND, Ind. - South Bend police are warning of a new scam targeting the older generation.

The suspects call the victim and say they are a grandchild or a niece, and they need money.

Most of the time, the suspect says they are in jail in a foreign country and they need the money to bail themselves out.

Then the victims are asked to wire the money through Western Union to the foreign country.

The suspects also have personal information on the victims like real names of family members to use.
