There is buzz in Roseland about new business moving into town just as the University Edge apartment complex nears completion.
While the town has not done any business recruitment, interested parties have reached out to the town board because of the prime locations along State Road 933. As the University Edge move-in day gets closer and closer, there are a few other businesses getting ready to call Roseland home.
World’s Famous BBQ will be opening up just across the street from University Edge, which will soon be the town’s largest apartment community.
Construction crews were busy Tuesday putting the final touches on apartment units. Tenants are scheduled to move in this summer.
“The development company just saw a great opportunity for growth when they bought the land,” said Nicole Woody, property manager at University Edge.
The complex can house up to 420 residents.
“To bring this much development will nearly double our population,” Roseland clerk-treasurer Robin Ackerson said.
Ackerson attributes an uptick in development to high visibility along 933.
“We have the busiest intersection in the county over at Cleveland and 933,” she said. “People are familiar with Roseland, it makes it easy to set up a business. I believe we have 40,000 cars drive through town each day. “
And, it is that kind of traffic that drew in a new German restaurant.
“We thought it would be a good opportunity because of the traffic and there's no German restaurant in town,” owner Christine Weiss said.
The new eatery will be called Weiss Guest House and is scheduled to open the first week of May at the former Elia’s location.
