Soon there will be a new restaurant in downtown South Bend.

The new eatery will be an Asian-inspired restaurant, and will be on West Washington where the Buffalo Wild Wings used to be.

Jeremy Young, owner of Zing Japanese Fusion in downtown Mishawaka, is now looking to take his unique cuisine to neighboring South Bend.

“We fuse the other kind of Asian themes,” said Young. “We not only have the Sushi, not only the Japanese, we bring more vegetarian dishes and gluten-free dishes, so it's more healthy."

On Thursday, the Downtown South Bend Municipal Riverfront Liquor License Board recommended the restaurant get a special liquor license because of its location.

This license costs $1,000, however they usually run between $30,000-$60,000 in some parts of St. Joe County.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg is expected to approve the special riverfront liquor license, and the restaurant hopes to have it by its September opening.
