Elkhart County officials held an informational meeting Monday night for those interested in learning more about the change to vote centers in Elkhart County. They are hosting another meeting Tuesday night.
The officials at the meeting will explain how vote centers will reduce Election Day costs for the county. However, they do require a technology change to electronic poll books, instead of paper ballots.
Board members reviewed bids last week, from four companies, to lease the technology.
The electronic system would synchronize 24 vote center locations across the county.
There will be four more meetings throughout this month starting with a meeting Tuesday night that will be held at the West Park Pavilion in Nappanee.
On January 21, the meeting will be at the Middlebury Town Hall in Middlebury. Six days later, on January 27, they will be at the Elkhart City Council Chambers in Elkhart. The next day, they will meet at the public services building in Goshen.
All of the meetings start at 6 pm.
