SOUTH BEND An annual event that caters to people of all abilities is back in South Bend on Saturday. LOGAN's Run will stay on the University of Notre Dame campus, but the event has a new start and finish line due to construction.
On August 2, people will meet at White Field instead of Stepan Center. The new location is just off Douglas Road. Organizers are using the wind turbines as land marks. The Family Fun Fest and pancake breakfast will also take place at the new location.
In 2013, the run raised $82,000 and more than 1,500 people took part. They also had help from 400 volunteers. The high turnout is likely due to the 10th anniversary, but organizers hope to keep up the same momentum in 2014.
"Our LOGAN's run is a very special event to LOGAN. It's truly an event for people of all abilities," said Nichole Maguire, the Marketing Manager at LOGAN.
"We have a 1 mile walk that's specifically geared toward team LOGAN. So, our clients get to start off the race and really show the community how we affect the people with disabilities all throughout Michiana."
The run is geared toward people of all abilities and offers several events including a 10K run, a 5K run or walk and a 1K fun walk. The events will be followed by a Family Fun Fest and pancake breakfast at White Field.
The run starts at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 2. Participants can register online at RunwithLOGAN.com until midnight July 30. Runners can also register on Friday, August 1, at LOGAN Center's Pasta Dinner from 5-7p.m. or the day of the event until 8 a.m.
All of the proceeds from the run stay with LOGAN to provide programs for its clients, including adult day services, Autism learning and recreation.
