New bed and breakfast approved in St. Joseph

St. Joseph, Mich. A St. Joseph man is turning his home into a bed and breakfast, all to get around the city's short term rental ban.

According to our reporting partners at WSJM Radio, the St. Joseph County Commission voted unanimously to let John Carolla open up the bed and breakfast on Vine Street.

The city earlier this year banned any more short term rentals. Past rental properties are grandfathered in.

Officials say Carolla will be allowed to open up the bed and breakfast, because he will be on-site, opposed to renting the home to someone else.
