New Jersey Governor Chris Christie accepts check for Hurricane Sandy relief

There was a special guest at the Notre Dame Men's Basketball game Saturday night.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie stopped with his family to cheer on the Irish and accept a pretty big check. Christie and Coach Mike Brey have been friends for the past 15 years. Brey coached at the University of Delaware, where Christie went to school.

So, when the team saw New Jersey was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy, they organized an auction to help. Men’s Hoops players raised more than $10,000, which Christie graciously accepted during the game.

“Mike called me right after the storm and said they wanted to try and do something with the basketball program,” said New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. “The University wanted to do something to raise money. Incredible generosity by the Notre Dame family we really appreciate it.”

Christie was on campus with the rest of his family, including his daughter who is considering attending Notre Dame.
