A new Mishawaka vehicle is hitting the streets Thursday and it's sure to turn some heads. It’s a brand new Mishawaka Police D.A.R.E. Police Car.
Lt. Tim Williams worked with artists at Graphix Unlimited to come up with the design and theme, which is 'score with your natural high.'
The car is covered with the D.A.R.E. mascot, Daren, playing sports like baseball, soccer and football, but he is also holding some books.
On top of all the graphics, it also has some flashy lights other police cars don't. But the ultimate goal of the car is to send a strong message to kids saying you can get a natural high without using drugs.
“In D.A.R.E. we talk about drugs,” says Lt. Tim Williams the D.A.R.E officer with the Mishawaka Police Department. “We’ll push the natural high, this helps children understand they can do something and share that experience with children and grandchildren when they have that false high they won’t remember so natural high they will be able to share that.”
Now, Lt. Williams says the best part about this car will be seeing the kids’ faces light up when they see it. And they will soon.
He says a 5th grader named Macey contributed to the car. Lt. Williams says he will visit her and her school Monday.
