A New Carlisle man has pleaded guilty to unemployment fraud, a felony.
37-year-old Scott A. Breeding, Sr., faced a judge in the St. Joseph Superior Court 8 Wednesday morning.
Court documents say Breeding purposefully defrauded the system by collecting unemployment insurance benefits while working full-time.
It started when an Indiana Department of Workforce Development employee received an anonymous tip that Breeding was working and receiving wages while claiming unemployment benefits.
The situation was verified through records and other information from Breeding's employer.
Breeding was ordered to repay DWD for the benefits he received, totaling $35,119.
He was also sentenced to six years of probation, but will serve the time in prison if he violates the terms of his plea agreement.
