The firefighters of New Carlisle have had a rough couple of weeks. This afternoon, the Silver Hawks invited them as guests to come and enjoy the game.

The Silver Hawks and the rest of Michiana continue to have the New Carlisle Fire Department on their minds after the industrial fire that took the life of volunteer firefighter Jamie Middlebrook.

The community has come together to honor and remember him.

Joe Hart, the President of South Bend Silver Hawks, says, “Well I think the biggest thing was it has obviously has been a tough couple of weeks for them. It's a thankless job and it’s an opportunity to show our appreciation for what they do on a day in and day out basis. I think people kind of take it for granted.”

“And if this gives them a chance to get out and enjoy a couple hours and kind of forget about things over the last couple of weeks and just give them an opportunity to take a deep breath and enjoy and unwined and relax. Then that's the least we felt we could do,” he adds.
