The fight to bring Michigan’s three passenger rail services straight to New Buffalo will continue despite news that a near $60 million grant request has been denied.

New Buffalo mayor Migs Murray says the city will reapply a third time if the federal grant program continues.

The city sought just over $58.3 million to fund routing all three of Michigan's passenger rail services to the downtown new buffalo platform.

According to our reporting partners at the Herald-Palladium, the current tracks intersect east of the city, but do not connect.
