The South Bend Police Department's Narcotics Division arrested a second suspect Friday night in connection with the Nov. 2011 murder of Dietrich Perkins, 31.
Officers made the arrest at the Meijer gas station near the intersection of Portage Rd. and Cleveland Rd. in South Bend.
The unidentified suspect is currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail facing preliminary charges of murder, felony murder and robbery.
Perkins was shot while sitting inside his car near the corner of Lathrop and Johnson Streets in South Bend.
Originally from Hammond Ind., the 31-year-old spent a lot of time in South Bend and Elkhart and had a lengthy criminal record dating back to the late 1990's.
Shortly after the killing, Mitchell Thomas, 20, was arrested and charged with attempted murder. Thomas was accused of firing shots at a woman inside Perkin's car. She escaped uninjured.
