ELKHART, Ind. - A man facing a murder charge in a 2012 shooting appeared in Elkhart’s circuit court Thursday.
According to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, Travion Kirkland, 20, was arrested Tuesday at his Roseland home.
He is accused of shooting Jesse Bowen in April 2012.
According to the probable cause affidavit, police found discrepancies in Kirkland’s story of where he was the night of the murder.
Also, the Indiana State Police lab matched DNA found on a cloth near Bowen’s house to Kirkland.
Kirkland told the court he is in the process of hiring an attorney.
The judge scheduled an attorney status conference on Jan. 9.
