BENTON HARBOR A man accused of murdering an acquaintance out of jealousy will spend the next 52 years in prison.

The Herald Palladium reports that Jovan Davis was sentenced this week in the death of Gary Alilovich. Davis was also convicted of the attempted murder of his then-girlfriend, Heather Poe.

Davis found the pair together in TEXT January of 2013. He beat Poe and shot Alilovich three times, while Poe's 10-year-old son watched.

The jury did not buy Davis' claim that he was acting in self-defense.
