There is another sight to see as you enter South Bend on Michigan St. The mural on the pedestrian bridge is now finished.

Saturday afternoon, city officials and those involved with the bridge mural held a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Memorial Hospital and local artist Christopher Stackowicz organized a city-wide effort to transform the overpass into a masterpiece.

“(It’s an example of) everything we want to achieve in this city,” said South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg. “Neighbors coming together. Rolling up our sleeves. Not saying why doesn't somebody do something, but why don't we do something? And that's what you all have done. So I'm really proud of the neighborhood and everyone who pulled this together and extremely thankful for the artistic visionary who made this possible."

Officials also say they believe the mural reflects the ongoing and upward movement of South Bend.
