The South Bend girl whose brutal stabbing death shook many in the Michiana area will finally be laid to rest.
Kenyan courts have given the go-ahead for Shirley Mundia to be buried.
The six year-old was supposed to be buried last Friday, but legal action taken by her father’s family in Kenya delayed the funeral.
Police shot and killed Mundia’s father, Edward Mwaura, when they found him stabbing Mundia repeatedly on June 2.
His family requested a second autopsy to confirm his cause of death and decided they wanted more information.
That’s when they asked for an injunction to examine Shirley’s body.
The courts denied that injuction, allowing Shirley to be buried.
