More information released on man who caused a weekend standoff in Benton Harbor

The man who barricaded himself in his mother's basement over the weekend reportedly served time for firing a weapon into a crowd.

Jovon Dorsey, 20, was released from prison last fall, after serving two years for firing multiple shots at a group of teens in eastern Michigan. No one was injured in that incident, according to our reporting partners at the Herald Palladium.

On Sunday, officers tried to arrest Dorsey on a probation violation and domestic dispute. But he'd barricaded himself in his mother's basement, and police believe he had access to a gun later found at the scene.

The four-hour standoff ended after a K-9 dog was sent in and bit Dorsey.
