The number of Michiganders who admit to texting and driving has doubled.

A state police poll reports more than 1-in-6 Michigan drivers say they text or use email while behind the wheel.

A survey done in 2012 found half that many people admitted to the illegal practices.

6-out-of-ten people say they make phone calls while driving. That is up only about two percent from 2012.

This year's survey polled 600 people in January.
