Missing Mishawaka woman found dead in snow-covered car

VALPARAISO, Ind. - A missing Mishawaka woman was found dead Monday.

According to The Times of Northwest Indiana, Renee Koontz, 56, was found by police in the backseat of a snow-covered car in a Target parking lot.

Police were there after receiving a call to inspect an abandoned vehicle.

When police checked the license plate of the vehicle, they found out the owner of the car was reported missing on Jan.18.

The Porter County Coroner is treating the death as a probable drug overdose, due to evidence of drug use found in the car. Toxicology tests will be run.
